Aikido is a non-aggressive, non-competitive Japanese martial art and indeed a path that will provide you with the capability to develop your mind, body and spirit, enhancing all aspects of life.  We train in a friendly, caring environment, by sharing knowledge, experience, energy and dedicating our time in the overall pursuit of perfecting our Aikido.  Below, Chris sensei demonstrates one typical way of training: paired exercises with a set format of one person attacking and the other person “receiving”.  We also sometimes practice doing the exercises on our knees, to build strength and balance via the legs and hips.

NB. All videos are for reference only, and for safety reasons these exercises should not be attempted without the supervision of a qualified instructor.

Join our Beginners Program
If you would like to see if Aikido is for you, you are welcome to attend any Thursday night session, and receive a personalised 4 week induction program, over consecutive Thursday nights. This introduces you to the basic movements and etiquette of Aikido and provides a platform for your ongoing participation in any of our weekly classes.
